2026 AIA Taipei Design Awards — Call for Entries

The Program

Call for Entries

AIA Taipei, an international section established under AIA International to connect local members more closely with the global community of the American Institute of Architects, is pleased to announce the AIA Taipei Design Awards program.

The program aims to celebrate design excellence by recognizing outstanding architects whose built works exemplify architectural innovation and contextual sensitivity, while promoting their distinguished contributions to contemporary architectural discourse.

Awards will be presented across three categories based on scale: Small, Medium, and Large. The jury may select any number of winners in each category to honor exceptional works that have significantly impacted the advancement of architectural practice in Taiwan.

01 — Award Categories

Categories

All entries must be submitted according to the following 3 categories, based on total floor area:

Small
< 500 m²less than 500 m² of total floor area
Medium
500–3,000 m²from 500 m² to 3,000 m² of total floor area
Large
> 3,000 m²greater than 3,000 m² of total floor area
The project must be built work completed on or after 1 January 2021.
02 — Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility

AIA members and licensed architects who are in good standing are eligible to submit entries, based on the following project location requirements:

Who may enter

  • AIA Taipei Architect Members in good standing
  • Other AIA Members in good standing — membership active at time of submission
  • International Licensed Architects — licensed, non-AIA members
  • The entrant must be the primary author of the design submitted
  • Individuals may submit multiple entries, with no category restriction

Project location

  • Projects located in Taiwan, or
  • Projects designed by Taiwan-based architects

04 — Submission Requirements

How to Submit

For each project, the following submission materials must be uploaded to a web-based file transfer platform (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, WeTransfer, etc.) as a ZIP file. Please share the download link via email.

The submission ZIP file (100 MB max) should include:

  • Entry Form (Appendix A)
  • Project Description Form (Appendix B)
  • Images (10–15, JPEG, 200–300 dpi)
  • Portfolio PDF (up to 15 pages, A3 landscape, anonymous)
  • Copyright Release Form (Appendix C)
  • Submission Checklist Form (Appendix D)
  • Photographer Permission Form (Appendix E)
  • Proof of Entry Fee Payment

Provide a clear, concise narrative of approximately 300 words (max 500). To ensure anonymity, do not include the names of any individuals, architect, firm, or collaborators. Focus on the design intent, challenges encountered, and the strategies and solutions implemented.

Appendix C Copyright Release Form +

Copyright Release for Textual and Visual Works — 2026 AIA Taipei Design Awards Program. Must be completed and signed by the entrant, granting AIA certain rights to use the submitted materials.

I hereby grant the American Institute of Architects and The American Institute of Architects Taipei Section ("AIA") a non-exclusive license to use any text, brochures, drawings, photographs, plans, slides, books, transparencies, or other copyrighted material (collectively, the "Work") submitted by me related to the project named above in connection with the 2026 AIA Taipei Design Awards Program. This license permits AIA limited rights to use, reproduce, reduce, crop or resize, publicly display, distribute, and transmit the Work worldwide during the full term of the copyright, in all media now known or hereafter devised, in connection with the announcement of awards and the promotion of the Program, without payment of any royalty or license fee.

By submitting this form, the entrant represents that they are the sole owner of the Work or have secured all necessary rights, and that AIA's permitted use will not infringe any other party's rights. Mutual indemnification applies as stated in the full form. The release is binding on the entrant and their heirs, legal representatives, and assigns.

The photographer(s) of the submitted images must grant permission for their use. This form may be duplicated if there is more than one photographer.
