Thank you to everyone who participated in the AIA Taipei International Lecture: KINGDOM Development × Department of Architecture, Ming Chuan University, featuring Roberto Bannura from Steven Holl Architects. Your presence and engagement made this event an inspiring moment of exchange within our architectural community.
Roberto Bannura’s lecture offered an in-depth exploration of Steven Holl Architects’ design philosophy, one rooted in phenomenology, material experimentation, and a deep sensitivity to context. Through a series of iconic global projects, Roberto illustrated how ideas begin with watercolor sketches and conceptual rigor, then evolve through precise spatial studies, light models, and the interplay of structure and experience. His insights underscored the importance of cultivating both discipline and imagination in architectural practice, and reminded us that thoughtful design can transform not only buildings, but also the way we perceive the world around us.

This event also highlighted the significance of collaboration between professional organizations, industry partners, and academia. We extend our sincere gratitude to KINGDOM Development for supporting this initiative, and to the Department of Architecture at Ming Chuan University for opening their doors and fostering a platform where students and professionals could meet, question, and learn together.
To everyone who asked bold questions, the educators who enriched the discussion, and the practitioners who brought diverse perspectives—thank you for contributing to such a vibrant dialogue. Events like this reflect the spirit of AIA Taipei’s mission to broaden architectural discourse, encourage critical thinking, and connect our local community with influential voices from around the world.
AIA Taipei will continue to curate lectures, workshops, and exchanges that empower the next generation of architects while promoting meaningful conversations within the profession.
We look forward to seeing you again at our upcoming programs.
